Is there an effective and safe herbal remedy for anxiety?

Yes, I could Google it, but every website (of course) is going to say that their product works. I’m very interested in personal experiences. Also, if there is a safe herbal remedy, can you recommend any brands? From what I know, there are companies who sell herbal supplements that aren’t very good…

My thanks in advance for your answers :)
(((Solly!)))

I had to conquer my anxiety and depression by changing the way that I think, and with exercise. I met a therapist who offered me an alternative. What he said to me made so much more sense than swallowing a happy pill to get thru the ordeal of going to the grocery store. I will try not to sound like an idiot here… LOL He said that we train our brains (by worrying, etc.) to think a certain way, to fear. Over time, that changes our brain chemistry. When we practice changing our thought process, then "over time" we can undo the damage that has been done, creating the chemicals we need to live and think "normally." It made sense, and it worked. Au naturale, no herbs (cannabis just made me paranoid then, lol) and no drugs. Just coping skills.

Oh, it helped that I got a divorce from a poison person, too.

I have a driving phobia and just being in a car causes severe anxiety attacks. I found through a friend a herbal remedy that has me driving ( I have never been able to drive before now ) and not freaking out. It’s called " Bach’s Rescue Rememdy" . You can get it at vitamin shops and gnc or any health food store . It’s non addictive and you can use it as often as you need to . Hope this helps.

if you drink chamomile tea it will relax you, eat more tarragon and chives. also, you can get vallarian pills at gnc and if you take those you will be chilled out, however there is a very good chance that you will fall asleep. what i strongly recommend is marijuana.

My suggestion would be to first determine what is causing anxiety-life stress, interpersonal troubles, housing market crash, or a physical ailment?

Either way, I know from experience that chamomile tea works as a herbal remedy. Also, I would try a supplement called GABA (gammabutyric acid) available over the counter at any local drug store or pharmacy. This has a neurotransmitter calming effect. Perhaps also, if older, say over 40, melatonin supplements will help quell anxiety and give a good sleep, if taken before bedtime.

But of course, exercise probably is the simplest and best remedy.

    Hope this helps.

Answer: Valerian root is highly recommended, I also like catnip tea. Celestial Seasonings makes a wonderful Tension Tamer tea (which is also very good for headaches for me)

If you are using it as aromatherapy, lavendar is WONDERFUL for this purpose as well.

depending on your tolerance there are a couple of things you can try.

valerian root is sold in most stores…you can even buy it at walmart. it smells horrible, but works for most people.

you can get a complex with valerian and kava kava.

chamomile, catnip, or sleepy-time tea all work pretty well.

unfortunately i have a very high tolerance for practically everything. i need four aspirin just to make a dent in a headache, but my daughter can take one tylenol p.m. and it knocks her out…lol

I can recommend the Bach’s Rescue Remedy.

Chamomile tea puts me to sleep, so it may not be good if you need to be awake and alert.
